Some things just change your life.

So I've already hinted at this but wanted to ask and make sure it was ok.  So here we go!

There was a awesome family that moved into our ward when I was a teenager.  One of the girls was my sisters age so I didn't know her as well, but crazy things happen and over the last few years I've been a faithful follower of her blog.

Why?  Because I needed it.

I actually heard about it from my mom and searched till I found it.  I needed it and it helped me.  I will be forever grateful to her for it.  Now her whole blog lifted and carried me at a time when I needed it but just after starting this blog (which I started to help me do those small, hard things you do everyday as a mom of very young people all while trying to stay sane) she wrote a post that I needed. I really needed it and didn't know how badly I needed it!  Although I tried to do the drops of awesome it just slipped out of my mental reach with everything that was going on and disappeared from my thoughts until recently.

Although I didn't realize it at the time, it was almost exactly what I was trying to do with this blog and I needed help doing it.  (If you haven't read it by now go do it! :))  My blog has been in the back of my mind since I started it and didn't really keep it up well with the whole being pregnant, low iron, and then almost dying thing... yea... that kinda put a damper on the whole posting daily thing.  The whole time I kept beating myself up for not keeping up with the blog and everything else for that matter.

Not too long ago I heard about her writing the book base on her blog post!  So exciting!   And then it became a reality.  When she asked for helpers to spread the word, I offered to help in any way I could.  I just didn't realize how much it would help me.

In order to help spread the word we got a digital copy of the book to read through and start putting Drops of Awesome into our own buckets as we help spread the word.  So I opened it up that night and read it all the way through.

Some things just change your life.  And this is one of them for me.

I'm probably going to talk about drops of awesome on a regular basis now because it is changing the way I think for the better!  I hope it can help change many others too because I'm sure I'm not the only one.  I will definitely be spreading the word and helping others to stop, rethink things and feel awesome too!  Now I just need to figure out how to get a physical copy once it's available!

A fun day

Today I'm giving my self a pat on the back for having a fun day yesterday.  I actually got myself out of the house, with the help of my husband, and we did something fun! :)  That may sound kinda ridiculous but when you haven't slept in a very long time because of a baby that just doesn't want to sleep through the night (or even come close for that matter) it's really hard.  Add a stroller that needs a new tire to be used and wow!  We carried all the water bottles and everything we needed and the baby and chased the other 3 monkeys around.  So all things considered it was a super amazing outing! :)  We all had tons of fun and came out happy and smiling in the end.  I think once those tires come in a few days we might just have to do it again with out the papa.  Either way it was a success and I'm going to enjoy it because I know the kids did!  And we got to see a rainbow! :)

Self bashing has to stop!

So I started this blog to help me do hard things.  You know the little ones that get overlooked frequently.  Like that load of laundry that's been calling your name and you just haven't done it because you know you won't actually finish it because seriously! you already have a 3 ring circus going on and how are you suppose to do one more thing?  At least for me that's how it works...

So there is the laundry, dishes, whatever it is that just sits there calling your name because you don't have time to do it right, or even half right, and so you just avoid it and try to pretend it's not there.  You beat yourself up over it over and over and over again because you really should have done it earlier...hours ago... well actually days ago... If you do start to do it you don't finish and then you get upset and beat yourself up over that too because come on!  I should be able to get at LEAST one thing finished all the way!

So this is what I've been doing to myself for quite some time now and I started this blog to help me do those little mundane tasks and see the joy in it and now important each and every one of those things are.  The problem is I've still been beating myself up over all the other things I haven't gotten done and so I haven't really kept up with the blog or even continued to do much other than beat myself up.  This blog has been haunting me as one more thing to do and I've decided it has to stop!  Not just for this blog but for every thing!  So the last few days I've been doing better and you know what!  It's been awesome! :)  So now I'm letting everyone know (or really no one at all since I think my sister is the only one who knows about this)  I'm stopping the self beatings now!  I'm going to keep this blog going and use it better to do what it was started to do!  Especially now that I know better what I'm really trying to do! :)

I'm writing a post!

Yup!  That's about the excitement around here!  I'm writing a post!  Haha!  Really, I've been trying to conquer the world and getting pretty frustrated at myself for not doing it all!  It's been beyond frustrating actually and I've been beating myself up pretty bad.  I stumbled on something the other day that I had forgotten about and it's really helped me the last couple days to keep perspective!  More on that soon possibly but hey!  Lets just say I'm feeling a little tiny bit awesome today!  Just a bit... and it's been nice! :)

Changing things up a bit!

Life is always a crazy journey!  I happen to live in Europe in a place I never dreamed of living!  It's a beautiful experience and very challenging at the same time. I love so many things about being here but miss one of the things I love the most!  My Family!

So now that I've added tha last little monkey to my clan, yes it's the last, I want to expand this blog to include more of one of the simplest things in life that brings me the greatest joys!  My family!

Now before you think I'm going to let my 6,5,3 and 1 year olds write on this blog... WOW that's a scary thought!... I want to start including my sisters and sisters in law that want to join the fun!  It want expand this to much more than my crazy random thoughts and make a great place for us to share random fun things we are doing and our randomness in general but always with the thoughts of how those small and simple things bring joy!  So here we go!

Oh and just a little picture of the last cute monkey to join our family!  He loves BIG sticks!
